Aqurate will be established as an Engineering Centre of Excellence specialising initially in the recertification and upgrading of Road and Rail Plant (RRV) and Civil Plant and equipment to meet current Legislative Industry Specific Standards.
In addition to the above it will provide Engineering services to re-engineer plant equipment for role specific functions and offer general engineering repair of RRV and General plant equipment and provide bespoke engineering services, predominately for the Rail Sector in Scotland.
Rail is a key growth sector of the Scottish economy, generating £1.3bn per annum. It supports over 13,000 jobs, around 9,000 of those directly, promoting STEM skills and apprenticeships. Network Rail alone employs nearly 3,000 people and engages over 160 suppliers, many of them local SME businesses.
The railway in Scotland receives some of the highest public subsidy levels anywhere in the UK. Two thirds of the costs of operating the system come from the Scottish Government (ie. taxpayer), and ticket prices are on average 20% lower than in the rest of the UK.
The strategic focus on rail expansion and decarbonisation will see its contribution to the Scottish economy growing significantly.
This journey is scheduled to complete in 2035 – See MAP

Aqurate has secured contracts to supply these services to The Quattro Plant Group and AB2000 Plant hire which will secure the ongoing upgrades of their existing and growing fleets – securing an initial turnover at time of writing of circa £ 2.4m.
The business will also actively pursue commercial opportunities to offer these services to other RRV and Civils Plant businesses in Scotland, and to the wider UK from its Scottish base - to our knowledge at time of writing there are no other dedicated RRV and Plant recertification businesses commercially operating in Scotland.
This would establish an independent supplier network for RRV and Plant Equipment to be recertified out with Manufacturer facilities - which is usually facilitated via Main dealer networks. Aqurate would be able to provide this much needed independent resource to RRV and Plant
operators in Scotland and the North of England.
We are also currently in negotiations to purchase a well-established specialist engineering business in Glasgow.
The acquisition of this business and its equipment as a going concern will not only secure the employment of the current staff, but also add over 60 years of specialist experience to our bespoke engineering workshop.
This will allow the business to train and develop our existing staff at the Cambuslang site.
